EMPLOYMENT SHUTTLE REFERRAL

Thank you for your interest in sending a referral to the Employment Shuttle.

The Employment Shuttle is a scheduled transport service to assist with the short-term transportation needs for the clients of the Department of Social Development and Housing, or those individuals at risk of becoming clients. The vehicle, a 2020 Dodge Caravan Savaria, is an accessible vehicle capable of transporting up to 2 passengers and one wheelchair.

A referral to the shuttle should be placed at least 24 hours in advance, with 48 hours recommended. Once we receive the referral, we will review it within 3 hours (During operating hours) and a response will be sent whether the transport is able to be completed or whether we will be unable to complete the transport.

Upon review, the person sending the referral will receive an email from the shuttle team with the details on whether it could be accommodated, accommodated with modification, or could not be accommodated.

Shuttle Rules:

  • No eating or drinking in the shuttle, except for water.
  • The shuttle may not transport any weapons or mind altering substances.
  • The shuttle will wait for 5 minutes from the time of arrival, or the time of scheduled pickup, whichever is later. If the passenger has not entered the shuttle within this timeframe, the shuttle will leave for the next transport.
  • All occupants must try to keep the shuttle clean, knock snow or mud off shoes/boots before entering, and no littering in the shuttle.

Shuttle Hours

The shuttle operates Monday through Friday and does not operate on Saturdays, Sundays or the following statutory holidays: New Year’s Day, Islander Day, Good Friday, Victoria Day, Canada Day, August Civic Holiday, Labour Day, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Thanksgiving Monday, Remembrance Day, Christmas Day, and Boxing Day.
